Wright & LA Academy Win Middle School Soccer

Wright Middle School and LA Academy won the LA84/Beyond the Bell District-Wide Soccer Finals, held May 11, 2013. Wright narrowly defeated Dodson Middle School, 1-0, for the girls’ title. The boys’ championship game went to a penalty shootout with LA Academy winning the shootout, 4-3, over the Northridge Knights. Eight teams played in the finals at Marina Del Rey Middle School, after winning regional play-offs. Teams from 95 middle schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District took part in the 2013 program. Portola and Le Conte Middle Schools finished third and fourth in the girls’ division. On the boys’ side, Pio Pico was the third-place finisher, with Fleming taking the fourth spot.
